postheadericon Poll: Obama approval hovering around 50% in swing states

President Obama’s job approval numbers are hovering around or just below 50 percent in key swing states he’ll need to win in 2012, according to Gallup polling data.

Gallup released aggregate data from the first half of 2010 today, compiling average approval ratings in all 50 states.

Here’s how Obama is faring in key states he won in 2008:

• Ohio â€" 49 percent approve - 43 percent disapprove
• Nevada â€" 48 percent - 46 percent
• Colorado â€" 49 percent - 45 percent
• Virginia â€" 48 percent - 45 percent
• North Carolina â€" 48 percent - 45 percent
• Iowa â€" 48 percent - 45 percent
• Pennsylvania â€" 48 percent - 45 percent
• Florida â€" 47 percent - 45 percent
• Indiana â€" 45 percent - 49 percent

Obama’s approval is down from 2009 in every state except Delaware, where his approval has ticked upward from 61 percent to 62 percent.
