postheadericon Santorum predicts better position to win nomination as opponents drop out

Rick Santorum said he would be in a better position to win the Republican presidential nomination as some of his competitors drop out.

"When this race does eventually narrow, then I think we're going to be in a very, very good place to win the nomination," Santorum said Monday on Sean Hannity's radio show.

{mosads}The former Pennsylvania senator also said he expected to do well on Super Tuesday, especially in Oklahoma and Tennessee.

A poll released earlier on Monday found Santorum and Mitt Romney tied in Ohio, a state where some polls had previously found Santorum leading the rest of the field.

Santorum is looking to shake off the outcome of the Michigan primary, where he ended up winning less d! elegates than Romney despite winning an equal number of congressional districts. The campaign had expected for Romney and Santorum to each get 15 delegates but instead Romney came away with 16 and Santorum with 14. Santorum's campaign had been planning to argue that the former Pennsylvania senator getting the same amount of delegates in Michigan as Romney, who grew up in Michigan, illustrated that Santorum is the better candidate to go up against President Obama in November.
