The cost of the campaign trail appears to be catching up with Newt Gingrich.

The former Speaker has begun charging supporters $50 to access photos with the candidate taken after a campaign events in the latest sign Gingrich is struggling to keep his head above water in a bruising - and expensive - presidential campaign.

Gingrich traditionally has taken time to snap pictures and chat with supporters after events on the trail, to a greater extent than the other GOP candidates. Occasionally when turnout was light at planned speeches, Gingrich would scrap his remarks entirely and just meet one-on-one with voters.
