The Pima County sheriff said Sunday that the second person of interest in the Tucson shooting has been cleared.

Investigators  said that the man seen entering the Safeway with the suspected gunman shortly before the attack on Saturday was interviewed by police and cleared of any involvement, according to the New York Times. The man, who appeared to be in his 40s or 50s, was a cab driver who drove the suspected gunman to the scene.

After arriving at the shopping center where Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' was holding her event, the suspect said he did not have change for the fare. He and the driver then went into the supermarket to get change. After the transaction, the two men walked out of the store together and separated.

Investigators had issued a public appeal for help finding the man, stating that he may have been connected to the attack or could have information that would help in the investigation.
