Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) tweeted Thursday to note the passing of former Nevada governor Kenny Guinn, 73. The two-term Republican died Thursday morning at University Medical Center in Las Vegas from what was presumed to be a heart attack.   

Guinn, who was criticized by Nevada Republicans for raising taxes, served from 1999 to 2006, a period of rapid growth for the state. 

He also served as the superintendent of a school district in his native Arkansas and as an executive in private business.
