postheadericon Poll: Americans losing confidence in Obama

Americans’ confidence in President Obama has reached its lowest point, according to a new Washington Post/ABC poll.

Fifty-eight percent of Americans have either “just some” confidence or none at that Obama will make the right decisions for the country.

Obama still fares slightly better than Congress. Sixty-eight percent of Americans have little or no confidence in congressional Democrats, while 72 percent said the same of Republicans.

Obama has also reached a new low on the economy, where just 43 percent of respondents approve of his performance.

More from the Post:

At the same time, Democrats generally continue to hold the edge over Republicans when it comes to dealing with the nation’s fragile economy. But that Democratic lead is slimmer than it was in 2006 before the party won back control of Congress. And among those most likely to vote this year, 39 percent trust the Democrats more and 40 percent the Republicans. About 17 percent of likely voters put their confidence in neither side.
