Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and leading diplomat Richard Holbrooke arrived in Kabul Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. embassy’s Twitter feed.

Clinton and Holbrooke, who is the special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, arrived ahead of an international conference to start Tuesday in Kabul.

The two met with Gen. David Petraeus, the newly-appointed commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan. Clinton also met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai. 

The conference will include delegates from more than 70 countries to discuss the distribution of foreign aid in Afghanistan.
