Local police arrested a gun-totting Washington man, who authorities say wrote hundreds of scathing e-mails to Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.).

Thomas Hanson, 63, was arrested for threatening his neighbor with a firearm, according to a report by the Seattle Times.

“Police found four rifles and six handguns inside Hanson’s trailer, several of which were loaded, prosecutors said."

Following Hanson’s arrest, police in Auburn, Washington were contacted by U.S. Capitol Police and informed that he had sent Cantwell 238 e-mails ranting about illegal immigration and immigrants from Mexico.

Hanson has been charged with the state’s hate crime law.
