Donald Trump blasted conservative writer George Will as a "hack" and a "fool" for suggesting Republicans would be best served by abandoning their White House aspirations and instead focusing efforts on retaking the Senate and preserving their majority in the House.

"I think he's a totally overrated fool," Trump said on Fox News. "I think this guy is so overrated â€" I don't think he's very smart. He looks smart with the little glasses and the hair slicked to the side. He is a guy who â€" that was one of the dumbest … I think he's a totally overrated pundit."

Will wrote this weekend in The Washington Post that neither Mitt Romney nor Rick Santorum "seems likely to be elected."
