postheadericon Biden hits road to defend Obama's economic record

Vice President Biden will begin a series of speeches Thursday targeted to appeal to middle-class voters and defend President Obama's economic policies.

His first takes place in the critical swing state of Ohio, where he will attack Republicans as "pro-privileged-sector" but anti-private-sector and tout Obama's decision to bail out the auto industry.

Obama's reelection campaign released early excerpts of Biden's remarks.

"Ours is a philosophy that values the role of workers in the success of a business, and values the middle class in the success of the economy," Biden will say Thursday at the United Workers Local 12 Hall in Toledo, Ohio.

Most voters list the economy as their No. 1 concern going into the November general election. Mitt Romney, the GOP front-runner, has repeatedly attacked Obama's policies and touted his own business experience.

Over the next few weeks, Biden will travel the country to repeat his message! , according to the Obama campaign.

"Stated simply, we’re about promoting the private sector. They’re about protecting the privileged sector," Biden will say according to the excerpts. "We’re a fair shot, and a fair shake. They’re about no rules, no risk. And no accountability."

Biden also will tout Obama's decision to bail out the autoworkers in Michigan. During the Michigan GOP primary, Obama's reelection campaign highlighted the president's decision to bail out the autoworkers while also accusing Republicans of wanting to let the industry fail. Both Romney and Rick Santorum have said they opposed the auto bailout.

"The president didn’t flinch," Biden will say. "He knew rescuing the industry wasn’t popular. He knew he was taking a chance.

"He said, we are not going to give up on a million jobs, and the iconic industry America invented. Not without a fight."

Biden will stress that the Obama administration is! looking out for the middle class.

"The president a! nd I hav e a fundamental commitment to dealing the middle class back in to the American economy," Biden will say.
