The press secretary's Twitter feed will be updated to reflect Jay Carney's position as the new White House press secretary.

"@chucktodd @SavannahGuthrie Out of an abundance of caution, we are slowly updating the @PressSec account. Obviously it will happen soon," White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer wrote on his Twitter Friday.

Even though the incoming press secretary, Jay Carney, started on Monday, the White House is only now getting around to updating the Press Secretary Twitter. As of 9:58 a.m. on Friday it still listed Robert Gibbs (whose last press briefing was last Friday) as its Twitter author.

Previously, Carney served as Vice President Biden's communications adviser, a role in which he did not have a similar Twitter.
