postheadericon Perino wishes Carney 'Good luck'

Former White House press secretary Dana Perino wished incoming press secretary Jay Carney good luck on his first day on the job Monday.

"Good luck to @PressSec today on his first WH briefing!," Perino tweeted.

Perino served as press secretary during George W. Bush's presidency.

Carney succeeds Robert Gibbs, who announced he would step down last month to serve as a consultant for President Obama. Gibbs's last press briefing was Friday.

Carney was named as Gibbs's successor Jan. 27. He previously served as Vice President Joe Biden's communications director.
