postheadericon McConnell: A failed Senate vote to repeal healthcare not a waste

Even if the Senate vote to repeal the Obama administration's healthcare bill fails, as expected, it's not a waste, the Senate minority leader said Wednesday.

"It's not a waste of time," Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told Fox News. "We promised the American people we would try to repeal this job-crushing Washington takeover of our healthcare, and we're keeping that commitment. The House has voted to repeal it, and we'll have that vote in the Senate today."

The Senate is expected to vote on repealing the Obama administration's healthcare reform law Wednesday afternoon.

The public expects a vote on the bill, McConnell stressed.

"This is what we told them we would do and we are doing it," McConnell said. "They voted for us, we had a very good election in 2010. They expect us to keep our commitments, and we intend to do it."

In January the GOP-controlled House voted to repeal the law.
