Lawmakers were busy tweeting Thursday morning from the annual National Prayer Breakfast, which took place at the Washington Hilton hotel.

"Just arivd natl prayer bfast," said Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). "4000 peeps here 140 countries represntd I'm at tabl w Russian Senator."

"Lots of Texans here along with faithful from around the world," Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) tweeted.

Grassley, Brady and Rep. Rob Wittman (R-Va.) tweeted the event as it happened, providing updates as singer Alison Krauss, Chilean mine disaster survivor Jose Enriquez, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, “Braveheart” director Randall Wallace, President Obama and hospitalized Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’s husband Mark Kelly, among others, took the stage.

Grassl! ey noted that his state, Iowa, was “well representd” thanks to Vilsack’s place at the head table.

Also tweeting their attendance: Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-Ill.) and Rep. Jeff Miller (R-Fla.), who co-chaired the event with former Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Ariz.! ).

Brady summed up the event as "[i]nspiring. Perhaps the best national prayer breakfast I’ve ever attended."
