postheadericon GOP senator tweets agreement on Iran

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) voiced his support for the stance Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took Monday on anti-government protests in Iran.

"Agree w/ Secretary Clinton - Iranian protesters ‘deserve to have the same rights that they saw being played out in Egypt," Kirk said in a tweet.

Earlier today Clinton called protests "a testament to the courage of the Iranian people." The Iranian protests come after more than two weeks of protests in Egypt that resulted in President Hosni Mubarak stepping down.

Anti-government protests have broken out in recent weeks in several Middle Eastern countries, including Tunisia, Yemen, Jordan and Algeria, in addition to Egypt and Iran.

Earlier today Kirk, a former intelligence official, criticized U.S. intelligence agencies' unpreparedness for the ! Egyptian protests.
