postheadericon Embracing the responsibility of exceptionalism

Lately there has been a renewed interest in the national dialog on the subject of American Exceptionalism. It is not a new subject, but certainly it is a timely one, particularly in terms of how the concept relates to an “exceptional” solution to the immigration crisis in America. After all, it was President Ronald Reagan who believed in and passed the last true attempt at a solution to our immigration dilemma. 

As Rick Santorum noted at the recent CPAC convention, “Ronald Reagan believed in American Exceptionalism and that America is the ‘shining city on a hill” One thing is clear; American Exceptionalism is real, and is embraced as one of the fundamental tenets of our national identity. It is how we hope and trust that we not only see ourselves, but are seen in the eyes of the world.
