postheadericon Medvedev salutes Schwarzenegger on last morning in office

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and outgoing California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) never hesitate to make their friendship known on Twitter.

Monday morning was no exception, when Medvedev, about four hours before incoming Gov. Jerry Brown's (D) swearing-in, tweeted at Schwarzenegger with a note about the transition.

"Wishing you success in this new phase of your life," Medvedev wrote. "There are many more interesting opportunities still to come."

Schwarzenegger has said that he may write "a book or two" upon leaving office, and that he and James Cameron, who directed the "Terminator" films, are working on a project together.

He has also stressed that he will maintain an interest in climate issues.

"It could be that fighting climate change would be the main thing. It could also be that it would be one of five things that I would do. It could be show business. It could be business in general," he told a reporter in November.

Brown's inauguration will take place in Sacramento, Calif., at 11 a.m. PST.
