postheadericon Kucinich says he'll fight to stay in Congress if district is cut

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) said he'd fight to stay in Congress if his district is eliminated due to Census reapportionment.

The liberal stalwart showed no interest in leaving Congress, and left wide open the door to trying to run in a different district if his is the one that's cut by the state's Republican legislature.

"If my district is eliminated â€" and it may well be, based on many reports I've heard â€" then I have to reach out to my supporters and find a way to remain in the Congress," Kucinich said Thursday on Fox News. "I just can't tell you where my district would be in 2012, though, because that's information that I'm not going to be privy to."

"I'm going to do everything I can in the time that I'm in Congress t! o work hard, and I'll work hard to stay in Congress, as well, to keep serving the people," Kucinich added.

Ohio lost a seat in the decennial Census because of population loss in the Buckeye state. A Cleveland-area district has been eyed for the chopping block because it was an area to lose residents more quickly, and because the districts are held by Democrats.

If Kucinich were to run again, the longtime politician who twice ran for president could run into a tough primary against another incumbent Democrat.
