postheadericon Date set for Clinton appearance with Emanuel

Former President Bill Clinton will make his long-awaited campaign stop for Chicago mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel on Tuesday.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Clinton will attend a rally and fundraiser for President Obama's former chief of staff at the Chicago Cultural Center next week. Emanuel also served Clinton as deputy chief of staff.

Clinton has been warned! by former mayoral candidate, Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.), and candidate former Sen. Carol Moseley Braun (D-Ill.) to stay out of the primary, which will be held Feb. 22.

"The African-American community has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with the Clintons; however, it appears as though some of that relationship may be fractured and perhaps even broken should former President Clinton come to town and participate overtly in efforts to thwart the legitimate political aspirations of Chicago’s black community," Davis said after the news broke last month.

Emanuel has been shown as the race's clear front runner in multiple polls. But if he fails to garner over 50 percent of the primary vote, a runoff will be held in April.
