postheadericon Capt. Mark Kelly encourages reflection on MLK Day

Capt. Mark Kelly, husband of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), reached out on Twitter Monday to mark the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

"As my wonderful wife @Rep_Giffords continues to make progress, let us all pause and reflect on this MLK day," he said.

The tweet is one of only two from Kelly since Jan. 8, when a gunman killed six and wounded 13 in a parking lot outside a Tucson, Ariz., grocery store.

"Thanks for all of the messages of support. I have some great followers. GG has been improving each day," he tweeted on Friday.

His first interview, with ABC's Diane Sawyer, will air on Tuesday.

Note: Another tweet about Giffords's condition came from Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.) on Monday.

"So happy that Cong. Giffords' condition upgraded from critical to serious + that she is breathing on her own," he said.
