I am a life-long Democrat, and am proud to be so. I am hopeful that our Party is poised to move beyond the rancor and divisiveness that has plagued our country for so long and head into the future focused on solutions to the challenges that face our great nation.

I think the most important thing our party can do is to look forward and not backward. Our nation faces many serious problems and both parties have a responsibility to seek solutions that benefit the American people and advance America’s position in the world. Political parties are a valuable part of our system, but blind adherence to any one ideology is not a productive way to solve problems. We must look ahead and leave behind the old rivalries and recriminations of the past and seek common sense, moderate, reality based solutions the people we represent deserve.
