Now that the 112th Congress has been sworn in and members have reaffirmed their commitment to abiding by the Constitution, it’s time for us to get down to doing the people’s business. As I see it, we need to focus on three main directives â€" creating jobs and stabilizing our economy; repealing and replacing ObamaCare; and providing quality education to our young people who are the future of this nation.

Meeting these goals began in December when Republicans negotiated in good faith with President Obama and successfully prevented the largest tax increase in American history.  With these job-killing tax hikes out of the way, American businesses can now act with some certainty and help to create jobs. This was a critical step in helping the American economy recover.

I plan on further helping our commitment to job creation by focusing oversight on the Department of Labor to ensure their rulemakings are aiding, rather than hindering, job creation. I believe additional scrutiny of the Department’s policies are warranted and will provide more certainty for our job creators.
