Move over, Grover Norquist. The time for your kind of tax revolt has passed, like the Cold War or the fax machine.

America today is seeing the birth of Tax Revolt 2.0, abottom-up rebellion aimed not at slashing and burning public services but at requiring wealthy corporations and the top 1 percent to pay their fair share.

On this Tax Day, April 17, grassroots protests across the nation will target major tax dodgers like Pepco and GE that have paid no federal income tax at all for the past four years.

In 2012, the grassroots energy around taxes is about making the rich pay more.

For decades, corporate-funded political operatives were able to commandeer the mantle of tax reform, but the bloom is coming off that rose as policies that aggravated inequality have starved communities and families of badly needed resources.
