Fox News fired back at Newt Gingrich Thursday after the Republican presidential candidate accused the network of being biased toward aiding rival candidate Mitt Romney.

"This is nothing other than Newt auditioning for a windfall of a gig at CNNâ€"that's the kind of man he is," a spokeswoman for Fox News told Yahoo News. "Not to mention, he's still bitter about the fact that we terminated his contributor contract."

Gingrich, speaking to a private meeting at Wesley College in Delaware that R! eal Clear Politics gained access to, told an attendee that in his experience, "CNN is less biased than Fox this year." Gingrich previously worked for Fox as a contributor, but the network ended his employment once he entered the presidential race.
