postheadericon Bolstering public trust in government

Members of the House and Senate have worked for some time to develop legislation banning insider trading for members of Congress. President Obama recently urged Congress to pass such legislation. Today, he signs into law a bill that demonstrates the House’s commitment to government accountability by going beyond the call to action.

Before the president called on Congress to pass insider trading laws in his State of the Union address, questions were raised about how existing laws applied to members of Congress and their senior aides.
