House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) joked this week that Republicans cannot be engaging in a “reign of terror” since they are not all following the same marching orders.

“Listen, if Republicans were walking in lock step my job would be a whole lot easier,” Boehner said in an interview set to air Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom.”

David Axelrod, a senior campaign adviser for President Obama’s campaign, said on CNN over the weekend that “a lot” of Republicans in Congress “know better, but they are in the thralls of this reign of terror from the far right that has dragged this party to the right."
