Vice President Biden says the Obama campaign views Arizona as a winnable state in the 2012 presidential election.

"We think we have a real shot at winning the presidential race here in Arizona," Biden said Thursday at a fundraising event in Phoenix, according to a pool report.

Biden said that President Obama's reelection campaign does not accept that Arizona is a lock for the Republican Party, despite the fact that Arizona has only voted for a Democrat once since Harry Truman was president. Obama campaign officials have recently signaled that they believe that could change in the 2012 election. The campaign is focusing on Hispanic neighborhoods and college campuses to register new voters in the state.
