postheadericon Thune denounces White House unwillingness to repeal CLASS Act

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) says that the White House's rejection of a new rule that would help to repeal the CLASS Act â€" a portion of the healthcare reform law intended to provide long-term care insurance that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said last week was financially unsustainable â€" is "incomprehensible."

"It's incomprehensible to me that the administration would â€" after having their Health and Human Services secretary come out on Friday and say, 'We're pulling the plug on this thing, we're not going to implement it, it doesn't work, we can't make it pencil out actuarially' â€" that they would still say we're wedded to this thing," Thune said on Fox News on Tuesday.

The White House said Monday that it did not believe repeal was necessary, since the administration did not plan to implement the program.
