In recent weeks, President Obama and Republicans in Congress have identified the elimination of unnecessary government regulations as a key part of the plan for economic recovery.  While both parties have proposed lists of regulations prime for elimination or modernization, more focus needs to be paid to insurance regulation.
 
There are few outdated regulatory systems that impact as many aspects of American life as those regulating insurance. Americans insure their homes, businesses, cars, and even their lives.  Yet, in nearly every case, we pay more for insurance because of an outdated, complex, and duplicative insurance regulatory system.
