Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) visited the White House on Thursday “as a proud Navy spouse” for her husband’s NASA retirement ceremony, which also included Vice President Biden and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

Giffords’s husband, Mark Kelly, who was honored during a ceremony at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building adjacent to the White House, said during his speech that Giffords inspired him with her “true grit.”
