Rep. Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) noted the grand opening of rocker Jon Bon Jovi's new Soul Kitchen restaurant on Wednesday.

"Bon Jovi opens doors & hearts," Pallone tweeted.

Rocker and New Jersey native Bon Jovi opened the new restaurant location on Wednesday in Red Bank, N.J.

Soul Kitchen, a program of the nonprofit Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, serves healthy food with no prices on the menu, according to its website. "Customers pay the minimum donation or volunteer in some way to earn a voucher for a meal," the website says.

“At a time when 1 in 5 households are living at or below the poverty level, and at a time when 1 out of 6 Americans are food insecure, this is a restaurant whose time has come. This is a place based on and built on community â€" by and for the community,â! € Bon Jovi said, according to a press release.
