First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden will travel to St. Louis Wednesday to attend the first game of the World Series  to participate in a pre-game ceremony with veterans and military families.

Obama and Biden will film a public service announcement with New York Yankees first basemen Mark Teixeira and Tampa Bay Rays designated hitter Johnny Damon - both themselves members of military families - as part of Major League Baseball's Welcome Back Veterans program. They will also host a military appreciation event with members of the National League-champion Cardinals at the St. Louis Veterans Center.

"We are honored to have First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden join us for the 2011 Fall Classic to recognize the courageous men and women who serve the country as well as their families," Commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement. "Major League Baseball has raised more than $11 million over the past several years through our Welcome Back Vete! rans program to help support veterans and their families. The World Series gives us the perfect opportunity to build on this ongoing commitment."
