postheadericon Massachusetts voters not concerned about Warren's Harvard ties

Massachusetts voters don’t mind that Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren is a professor at Harvard University, despite incumbent Sen. Scott Brown’s (R) efforts to use her position to paint Warren as elitist and out of touch.

The poll from the Western New England University Polling Institute found that just 13 percent of voters were “less likely to vote for Warren” because she works at ! Harvard, while 21 percent said it made them more likely to vote for her. Most â€" 63 percent â€" said Warren’s ties to Harvard make “no difference” in how they plan to vote.

Republicans were more likely than Democrats to be turned off by Warren’s connection to the country’s oldest university. Only 3 percent of Democ! rats sai d her position made them less likely to vote for her, while 18 percent of Republicans did. More than 3 in 10 Democrats said that Warren’s job made them more likely to vote for her, while 7 percent of Republicans said the same.
