Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) announced Thursday that he supports freshman colleague Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) in his bid for the No. 5 position in the Senate leadership.

Johnson announced Tuesday he is running for the position of vice chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, making him the first member of the 2010 freshman class to make a bid for his party’s leadership in the Senate.

Rubio tweeted Thursday morning, “Proud to be supporting @SenRonJohnson for Vice-Chair of our GOP Conference.”
