Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) announced Thursday that he supports freshman colleague Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) in his bid for the no. 5 position in the Senate leadership.

Johnson announced Tuesday he is running for the position of vice-chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, making him the first member of the 2010 freshman class to make a bid for his party’s leadership in the Senate.

Rubio tweeted Thursday morning, “Proud to be supporting @SenRonJohnson for Vice-Chair of our GOP Conference.”
