postheadericon Graham warns Obama could get blame for Libya

Unless President Obama acts "decisively" in Libya, he will own it like President Bush owned the Iraq War, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Wednesday.

In a statement calling for President Obama to institute a no-fly zone over Libya, Graham warned that inaction in that country could be a foreign-policy disaster for the United States.

"If he does not act decisively in Libya, I believe history will show that the Obama administration owned the results of the Gadhafi regime from 2011 forward," Graham said. “Their refusal to act will go down as one of the great mistakes in American foreign-policy history and will have dire consequences for our own national security in the years to come. I truly fear the decisions they are making today will come back to haunt us.”

Lawmakers have been divided about imposing a no-fly zone over Libya with some, such as Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), pushing for the Obama administration to "immediately" put a no-fly! zone over the country.

President Obama has said the option of a no-fly zone is still open, but Pentagon officials have cautioned that a no-fly zone is both expensive and complicated. The Arab League last weekend endorsed the idea of a no-fly zone.
