postheadericon Poll: Voters hold similar views of Obama, Democrats

Voters see a "broadly consistent agenda" when asked their opinions of President Obama and congressional Democrats, says Scott Rasmussen of Rasmussen Reports.

The comment came after the release of polling data stating 57 percent of likely voters believe Obama is more liberal than they are, and 56 percent say the same about the average Democratic lawmaker.

When the question is switched, 12 percent say the president is more conservative than they are, while 13 percent say the same about Democratic lawmakers.

More than half of likely voters say the agenda of Democrats in Congress is extreme.

Only 26 percent believe Obama shares their political views, verses 23 percent who say the same of congressional Democrats. Still, voters express their affinity with Republicans by a similar margin: 26 percent believe the congressional GOP shares their views, though 45 percent would call their agenda "mainstream."
