President Obama asked supporters today to "commit" to voting in the 2010 midterms.

In a letter to the Organizing for America e-mail list, Obama urged supporters to help Democrats hold on to Congress.

"[A]fter years of policies that landed us in the worst recession since the 1930s, the Republicans who got us there have not come up with anything different from the policies of George W. Bush," he said.

Pollsters and strategists have repeatedly noted there is an "enthusiasm gap" between Democrats and Republicans, with GOP supporters much more interested in the upcoming elections than liberals are.

Perhaps as a result of that, Obama wrote that part of the Democratic strategy heading into 2010 is to "get folks like you from across the country to commit to vote, to make sure we get as many people as we can to cast their ballots this fall."
