postheadericon Poll: Among issues, 'race relations' lends Obama highest public approval

President Obama does not have a majority of the public's approval on most domestic and foreign policy issues, according to two Gallup polls conducted in late July and early August.

The polling results reveal that Americans are most likely to approve of President Obama's handling of race relations, education and terrorism.

They are least likely to approve of his handling of Afghanistan, the deficit and immigration.

Among the 13 issues surveyed, Obama only received majority-level approval (52%) for his handling of race relations.

For healthcare policy and "the economy" -- both prompting reforms that have been touted as administration victories -- he received 40- and 38-percent approval, respectively.
