North Korea joins Twitter

North Korea debuted on Twitter Aug. 12 using the handle @uriminzok, which in Korean means "our people."Â
Its first tweet, roughly translated, reads: "Website, 'our nation itself' is a Twitter account."
According to translations by the Guardian, the feed links to speeches praising North Korean premier Kim Jong-il. It also points to a statement criticizing reports that the North Korean military sank a South Korean warship.Â
The account has 2,321 followers so far.
