postheadericon Lawmakers engage in Stanley Cup trash-talk

Two congressmen did a bit of sparring over the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup on Friday as the famed trophy was being brought to Buffalo, N.Y.

Patrick Kane, a star player on the Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, brought the hardware to his hometown of Buffalo.

Chicago-area Rep. Mike Quigley (D), a noted 'Hawks fan, gloated to his Buffalo colleague Rep. Brian Higgins (D) on Twitter that his team, and not the Buffalo Sabres, won the championship. He tweeted a picture of him holding the Stanley Cup.

@RepBrianHiggins No need to worry, @RepMikeQuigley, Buffalo will take good care of Stanley Cup today http://twitpic.com/2ec345

But Higgins took pride in the visit, sharing a photo of Kane with the Cup at Niagara Falls, the national landmark near Buffalo:

@RepMikeQuigley I see your Stanley Cup Twitpic and raise you another http://twitpic.com/2ec7if
