Former President Bill Clinton will appear alongside Rep. Joe Sestak on Tuesday to aid the Pennsylvania Democrat's Senate bid.

Sestak's campaign confirmed that Clinton will appear in Scranton next week to campaign with the congressman, who's running for Senate this fall against Republican Pat Toomey.

The campaign appearance with Clinton is especially interesting given the former president's previous involvement in the Pennsylvania Senate race. Clinton, at the behest of the Obama White House, had reached out to Sestak to encourage him to drop a primary bid against Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.).

During that meeting, Clinton floated the possibility of a nomination to an unpaid position if Sestak were to drop out of the race. Republicans seized on the offer and tried to force a series of investigations into the affair. The White House counsel launched an internal investigation that concluded no wrongdoing had been done.
