Reality television host and prominent Mitt Romney surrogate Donald Trump said Tuesday that he believe President Obama would begin a war with Iran because it would help him politically.

"I happen to think that the President is going to start a war with Iran," Trump said on the Laura Ingraham show. "I think it will be a short-term popular thing to do, and I think he’s going to do that for political reasons, if you want to know the truth. I don’t know if anyone says this openly, but I think he’s going to start a war with Iran."

Trump said a war with Iran would help Obama politically much in the same way the war with Iraq provided President Bush a temporary wartime boost in the polls.
