postheadericon Rubio, Romney preview potential ticket while stumping in Philadelphia

Mitt Romney and Marco Rubio previewed their potential partnership atop the Republican ticket during an event in Philadelphia Monday, firing up a crowd of supporters with a town-hall meeting full of conservative red meat.

The pair slammed President Obama's energy policies, handling of the economy and treatment of Iran while fielding questions from those in the audience. But neither candidate was asked about the questions many in Washington had after it was announced they would campaign together ahead of the state's primary Tuesday: namely whether the appearance was an audition for a vice presidential nod, and if Romney and Rubio had struck common ground on an immigration plan.

In a press briefing with reporters earlier, Romney remained elusive on both topics, saying the vice presidential hunt was still in its early stages and that he was continuing to evaluate Rubio's proposal for a heavily amended version of the DREAM Act.
