postheadericon Romney: 'This campaign is going to ultimately become about jobs, not dogs'

Mitt Romney brushed off comments on the viral political story du jour Wednesday, saying he wouldn't comment on an excerpt from the President Obama's memoir in which the president admits to having been served dog meat as a child in Indonesia.

"This campaign is going to ultimately become about jobs, not dogs," Romney told radio host Bill Cunningham when asked about the story. "Look, you recognize, of course, that some members of the media and certainly the [Democratic National Committee] and the White House itself, are going to do everything in their power to divert the attention of the voter from the failure of the president to turn around the economy."

Romney's campaign has been fanning the story since Tuesday night â€" an apparent rebuttal to the Obama campaign's frequent reference to Romney having strapped a family dog to the roof of his station wagon during a road trip to Canada in the 1980s.
