postheadericon Romney says GSA conference shows 'administration's spending hypocricy'

Mitt Romney's campaign seized on the brewing controversy surrounding a lavish Las Vegas retreat for the Government Services Administration, saying in a statement Friday that the "disgraceful GSA scandal shows [the] Obama administration's spending hypocrisy."

"The GSA spending scandal is the latest example of the Obama Administration's total disregard for spending discipline and taxpayer dollars," the campaign continued. "While his administration gleefully uses the Treasury as a piggy bank, President Obama continues to launch false and misleading attack on proposals to rein in federal spending."

The conference for 300 GSA employees cost more than $800,000 and featured entertainment from clowns and mind readers. Commemorative coins that cost thousands of dollars to manufacture were distributed, and participants enjoyed $7,000 worth of sushi at one meal.
