One reason Ron Paul is continuing to fight for the Republican presidential nomination: he can afford to.

The Paul campaign announced Friday that they had raised $2.6 million in March alone and some $10.4 million in the first quarter of 2012 â€" numbers that become even more impressive considering that they came as Paul's chances of winning enough delegates to stop Mitt Romney's nomination became increasingly slim.

The campaign's nearly $1.8 million in cash on hand â€" and lack of debt â€" explain why Paul is continuing to spend on advertising buys in Texas and Rhode Island. The congressman is hoping to net a significant number of delegates from his home-state primary later this month.
