postheadericon Pets bridge the aisle for GOP congressman

A congressman responded Thursday on behalf of his dog to news that another frequent, furry Capitol Hill visitor had been diagnosed with cancer.

Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) tweeted that his dog Charlie, well known from visits to D.C. and the congressman's use of Twitter hashtag #CharlietakesDC, would love to meet up with Dakota in the future.

“Sad to hear the news about Sen. Conrad's dog,” Schweikert tweeted. “Good to hear it's treatable. #CharlietakesDC can't wait to meet Dakota when he recovers.”

Dakota, a Bich! on Frise belonging to Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), was recently diagnosed with lymphoma.
