Six months after the Jan. 8 assassination attempt, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) is still showing "strength and resilience," her husband wrote Friday.

In a Facebook post marking the anniversary of the shooting rampage in Tucson, Ariz., astronaut and Navy Capt. Mark Kelly wrote that Giffords continues to heal.

"A moment to reflect: Six months after the shooting in Tucson, my wife Gabrielle continues to show strength and resilience," Kelly wrote. "Just like her constituents, she is healing and moving forward. She has not let this tragedy dampen her optimism or love of life.

"I could not be more proud of her."

Giffords was shot in the head during the rampage that left 12 others wounded and six dead.

Kelly's Facebook post came a few weeks after book publisher Scribner announced that he and Giffords will co-aut! hor a memoir about their life together, Giffords's time in politics and the shooting.

A week prior to the announcement of the book project, TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, where Giffords has most recently been receiving care, announced that she would be released for outpatient therapy and continue her recovery from her husband's home in nearby League City, Texas.
