postheadericon Brown sits out Mass. delegation's 'It Gets Better' video

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) sat out on participating in a video featuring the rest of the Massachusetts delegation counseling gay and lesbian youth suffering from bullying.

The entire delegation â€" which, except for Brown, consists of Democrats â€" appeared in a video for the "It Gets Better" campaign, a series of videos started by Dan Savage, a gay rights activist who pens a regular sex column.

Brown's office didn't immediately comment as to why he didn't participate in the video, but the Massachusetts Democratic Party eagerly seized on his absence and circulated an article to reporters that made note of his lack of participation.

Brown's been seen as one of the few Republicans in Congress seen as more supportive of LGBT rights, relatively speaking. Most notably, he joined with a number of Democrats to pass a repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" through the Senate.

The Human Rights Campaign, a leading group that advocates fo! r gay rights, gave him a rating of 33 for the last Congress â€" not the highest score for a congressional Republican, but one that placed him above most other GOP lawmakers.
